Where Are They Now?

1961 Lark Sedan

Harry Mac. bought the vehicle as a used car in 1963, and owned it until he traded it in, in 1964 on a new Hillman Imp.

Harry found out later from the mechanic at Needham's that the car had been prepared for competition, and given that it was 1961 vehicle, could have been for either the Armstrong 500, or Hardie Ferodo 500.

As 1962 was the last Armstrong at Phillip Island, and 1963 the first Hardie Ferodo at Bathurst.

We have confirmation that this vehicle was a race prepared car by Bert Needham and was raced

at least once in the 1962 Bathurst 6 hour event, winning it's class, and 3rd outright.

Many thanks to our website visitor Jack De Vries for alerting us to the Modern Motor article.

It's not clear, but it's thought to be fitted with 289, but definitely had 4 barrel Carter carb,

dual exhausts, 3 speed manual gearbox, and drum brakes all round.

Thanks Harry, for letting us show these Photo's here.
